American Pastoral
my book reception:
-
meh book
-
lots of rants about something? idk what even, maybe people in general, how superficial they are
-
but the author has created "perfect" on the outside characters just to rant "at" them -> the narration is not really believable, so that he presumes feelings and actions of others
- i guess it tries to conquer what narrator really is
- what does he know of the inner life of other characters
- i guess it tries to conquer what narrator really is
-
but at the same time book itself posits no merit/value
- little value would be better phrasing
- narrator is able to comprehend that Vietnam war is bad, oh really? very deep... maybe if you are US based than it goes against your thoughtcurrent but otherwise, not really
- in the ocean of thoughts at the same time there are mere flickers of any value to me, most of it has already been said, repeated and amplified, like the narrator wants to virtue signal to us that shit is bad, all the same he presents no alternative
-
all negation
